Completed Projects - Swiss Chalet, Lenk
A traditional Swiss Chalet recently completed in the Swiss Alps at Lenk.
All the interiors were designed on 'modern Asian' theme by Creative Solutions Architects, Bali.
All the furnishings were produced in Bali and shipped to Switzerland for installation into the apartment.
A traditional Swiss Alpine Chalet keeping in the tradition of the Lenk Simmental 'Style' with the masonary base and timber upper floors. The Chalet Architect, Hans Grunenwald, was consulted by Creative Solutions Architects over the necessary changes required to some structural elements for the design of the apartment interior.

GENERAL COMMENTS ON THE DESIGN
- • The original floor plan was presented to the client for his inspection and comment.
- • It was decided to modify the plan for both the ground floor & lower floor to suit the clients needs and functions.
- • It was decided that the three bedrooms in the apartment all have en-suite bathrooms so when the clients friends and guests came to stay they would be fully catered for.
- • In order to achieve this modifications had to be made to the existing plans. The subtle changes that were made to the existing floor plans completely achieved the clients requirement.
- • It was also decided to incorporate a two person sauna in the lower ground floor. This sauna is directly accessible from an internal corridor. The Sauna can be programmed to be ready for use when, after a days skiing, the guests can directly access the sauna from the ski room.
- • It was decided to "BREAK" away from the traditional "SWISS ALPINE LOOK" . Asian modern was chosen instead.
- • For the bathrooms clean and functional lines an Asian mosaic marble wall tile was chosen to give a warm 'TEXTURE' to the walls. Clean frameless large glass shower cubicles 1.2 x 1.2mt in size and 'GROHE' Rainshower heads were chosen to give guests a feeling of real space when showering given that the client lives in Asia and showers in a "Garden" setting.
- • 'Cherry' timber floor was laid over underfloor heating which can be set to different temperatures to suit the guests when sleeping.
- • A dark (mushroom) wall color was chosen as a suitable backdrop to the wall fabric hangings and large painting hanging in the sitting area.
- • All the loose furniture such as the dining table & chairs, lounge sofa double beds, built in cupboards were specifically designed by "Creative Solutions Architects", and were made in Bali for shipment and installation into the apartment in Lenk.
- • The kitchen layout and cabinets, designed by "Creative Solutions Architects" were given to a local Swiss cabinet maker to be built. Here again an Indonesian plywood facing to the cabinets was given to the cabinet maker to face the kitchen cupboards with.
- • The dining table is made from solid 7 cm thick recycled teak with the dining room chair backs using woven leather.
- • From the time you enter the apartment you are unexpectedly surprised to fully receive the warm radiance of a modern Asian villa interior.
- • This is something rather unusual for the Swiss Chalet mountain environment.
