Villa Sanur
GENERAL COMMENTS ON THE DESIGN
- • Villa Sanur is set in what could be called suburban Sanur on level ground and the site is large at 24,000 m2.
- • The clients request was for a 3 bedroom modern "Interpretation" of a traditional Balinese compound that would express the Balinese compound feeling.
- • Design emphasis was placed upon the openness of the living areas to the garden within the compound.
- • Water was an integral part of the Landscape design as was tropical palms that were part of the owners interest in collecting rare and endangered palm species.
- • The openness of the living spaces living / dining / kitchen under alang-alang (grass roofs) allows that connectedness between the built spaces and the garden in a seamless manner.
- • The swimming pool and large garden pond are directly connected to form a large body of water which the living/dining bales overlook.
- • The Jacuzzi/shower/spa area is located in the garden that is private but yet adjacent to the swimming pool.
